Port Barnett Woman Buried Last Week
Mrs. Solomon E. McManigle dies following long illness.
Mrs. Martha Malinda (Swartz) McManigal, died at her home in Port Barnett on Monday, January 4, following an illness of four months of gallstones. She was aged 67 years, six months, 26 days.
The deceased was born on June 8, 1864, a daughter of Benjamin and Priscilla (Mowery) Swartz. On June 4, 1886, she was united in marriage to Solomon E. McManigal and to their union 12 children were born, ten of whom survive with the husband and father. Surviving children are: Sophie, wife of Frank Kriner of DuBois; Katie, wife of Benjamin Schieferle of Van Nuys, CA; Harvey at Port Barnett; Emmett of Medix Run; Hudson of Brookville; Ellsworth of Arnold; and Theodore and Luella both at home. Two daughters preceded their mother in death, Fannie in infancy and Margaret, wife of Oscar Morrison died May 13, 1930. The following brothers and sisters survive: John Swartz of Brookville; Mrs. William Shaffer of Dubois; Mrs Manuel Buzzard of Reynoldsville; Mrs. Nesh Bender of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
The deceased was a member of the Port Barnett Methodist Episcopal Church. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 7, at the church with the Rev. J.F. Shaffer in charge. Burial was in the Butler Cemetery. Pall bearers were Clifton Latimer, George Menteer, Robert Joyner, Frank Huffman, Albert Kroh, and E.A. Bartlett.
